How many qts of transmission fluid will I need to buy for a filter change on my 05 2500 4x4 ???

Depends on whether you plan to just change the fluid in the pan, or flush the entire system. Off hand I think the system is something like 16 quarts. If your just doing the pan I would get 3 gallons just to be on the safe side. That's the amount I plan to get when I do the change soon. Even if it's too much, you'll at least have it left over for the next time.

 

I change my fluid and filter every 20,000 miles. The most fluid I have ever used is 7 qts.

 

It took 6.5 Qts to refill mine when I had the trans serviced.

 

Mine took about 8 quarts the last time but now I have a double deep pan and that adds 4 more quarts. Not to hijack but when do the bands need to be tightened? Just wait until it starts to act up or on a regular interval?
