fan belt install ?

I am trying to put a new fan belt and tensioner on my truck and am having problems.I got the new tensioner on, but can't get the belt routed right even with a diagram. My question is how do you get belt around the tensioner from the ac pulley and crank pulley? Do I loosen the tensioner bolt so I can wedge the belt between the block and pulley or is there an easier way to get this belt on? Hope this makes sense and soory for long post.

I typically turn the belt on it's side and do those pullies first. A little easier than taking the tensioner loose.

I tried turnig on it's side but the new gates tensioner [ looks alot tougher then the stock plastic pulley one] is to close to the block and the new gater back belt is to stiff to fit in between there.

I changed the serpentine belt on my old 01.5 twice and had it done in abot 10 minutes. I changed it on my 05 and it took me 2 hours to get the new one back on right. Been there, done that.

Great, I just bought an extra serpentine belt to keep in my truck just in case...But now it sounds like this isn't something I would want to tackle on the side of the road!!!

My problem was I just took it off thinking it would be easy like my 01.5 was. If I had paid attention to the way it came off I would have probably been able to get the new one on much faster.
