Factory Jacobs brake?

So I'm sure this has been covered, I have done lots of searching, wondering if anyone can give me more info than I can find.
I bought my '06 2500 Big Horn, Automatic tranny new and the dealer told me it came with an Jacob's exhaust brake. I never really noticed it working even when new. Been reading on it and there are reports of the vacuum lines easily leaking and causing the pump to go bad, so people are replacing the factory vacuum lines. I guess I need to go look around for it and see if the vacuum lines are easily replaceable? From what I've read the pump is on the driver side up high?? Anyone replaced their line and have any input on this? I also have heard the pump usually goes bad when there is a leak? I don't want to install a different brand, just thinking I want to make the one that is on my engine work. Is there a VIN decoder that would list whether I have one or not, or is is easily identifiable if I look on the engine belt on the driver side?

Thanks hopefully, sorry if this has been covered, but I could not find any pictures, and I just was hoping to get a more visual description of replacing the vacuum lines and the pump itself.

edit, so I guess I should say I've towed a medium heavy 19 foot trailer since day one a few times a year and would have to use the brakes on steep grades if my memory serves me. I towed a buddy's 30 footer loaded down a steep grade a couple of summers ago and had to definately ride the brakes quite a bit. I do have my shifter button pushed for tow/haul mode whenever towing, guessing that tells the exhaust brake when to engage??

As far as I know, the factory didn't actually install the Jacobs brake. In my case, I ordered it at the dealer who installed it before I took delivery. My pump lasted about 70K miles then quit making vacuum. Rather than replace it with another Jacobs pump with a questionable record, I put on a Pac Brake. Performance is very comparable between the 2.
There should have been a switch mounted on your gear shift lever for the brake. You certainly should have been able to tell if the brake was working.
Since you have identified the pump, I'm attaching a picture of the brake attached to the exhaust manifold and of the shifter switch although that one is on a floor shifter. I suggest you go to the Jacobs web site to download the manual.

Well, go figure, I don't think I have one installed. Sucks the sales lady back in 06 when I bought it even had me take it on a mountain road so I could feel it in action. To tell you the truth I was so worked up about getting a new truck that I most likely imagined it was working?? I looked in the engine bay on the passenger side of the block above the exhaust and did not see anything that looks special. It would be above the elbow just downstream of the turbo, correct?? That's where your pic above looks like to me??
Also, I don't have any other switch, mines an automatic tranny so just assumed it was part of the tow/hall switch on the column shift button.

Can someone give me p/ns of the Pac brake, been looking and think I found it, but want to get confirmation I pick one that works with my '06 with the Automatic. Is the Pac brake just as safe for the engine/tranny as the Jacobs one, I read that there used to be problems with putting an exhaust brake on earlier Autos, not sure what the build date is on my truck other than it is just an '06, not sure if all '06 Autos are okay with installing one.

Here is a picture looking down on the passenger side of my engine, it would be visible in this view if I had one??? Do you see one?

Thanks hopefully.

My PacBrake kit was C44045 and I ordered it online from DieselMax. It cost just under $1100. The instructions that come with it are fairly clear but you can always ask for help on this site or by contacting DieselMax if there's a problem.

Thanks. Been reading older posts that talk about it being more around $1000, but it looks like the prices went up for pac and the jacobs since then. Thanks for the p/n.

Now I see the prices were around $1000, ****, just getting sticker shock a little. Thanks though.
