Excessive rattle under accelleration

Seems to be a more of a rattle (knock) under hard accelleration than there use to be. At highway speeds or slow accell. She sounds normal. Doesnt matter if the edge is on or not. New fuel filters in the AirDog, ran some Lucas and some Seafoam also.

She does have 351,000 miles on her but she runs great.

Injector? Or just old.

2006 6spd (SBC Clutch and Flywheel, Edge w/Attidude, AirDog, AirRaid Intake)

I'm trying to imagine the sound but what about an exhaust leak? Any turbo issues? Throw any codes lately?

If the last time the valves were adjusted was 150k ago then it's due again... My truck ran the same way and I had them adjusted last night. It runs and sounds a lot better... several were way out of spec-

Mine would rattle hot cold it didn't matter. After putting all the miles I have on this truck, I notice just about anything out of the norm.

I actually had 2 injectors go out. 5 was really bad and 3 was right behind it. My Airdog was freezing up and blowing fuses. It was replaced under warranty.

Truck pulls and runs better than ever. Can't wait to get 500,000 miles.

I've got an 04.5 w/78,000miles that clatters like crazy under accel. (Not at full) Drives me NUTS! Took it to the dealer(Mech. is somewhat of a friend) and he did a valve job and insists that everything is normal. Metallic Clatter sounds like it's coming through the vents on the passenger side. Almost drives me nuts enough to make me want to get rid of the truck...

Know exactly how you feel, been chasing down the same tone in mine for a year, truck was quiet and then metallic clatter at medium/hard accel showed up, also has a ticking sound at idle in gear but not moving, auto tranny. Been back to multiple dealers many times and all say its ok.....

I have the same thing, sounds like someone tapping a quarter on the windshield. It might be what they call "pump timing rattle" Do a search and you will find info on it and how to fix it. I have yet to try to attempt the fix, but once I do I will post about whether it worked or not.

pump timing rattle

Yes, a friend of mine told me about this. Said you have to take the Pump(CP3) off and rotate 30 degrees and try and if it still rattles do it again til it stops...
Haven't tried yet...

Check number 5 injector line. The little blue insulator will loosen causing it to "tick". If left loose long enough it will crack. New line is about $100 and can be replaced in 10 miutes. Trust me, I know.

this is a common problem for 06 trucks
