Engine Knocking

I have a 2006 5.9 Mega Cab, 4x4, Auto. It has 120k on it. Today it started knocking really bad. Sounds like it is coming from the engine. I had it towed home. Could it be a spun rod bearing.? I've never heard of a Cummins spinning a rod bearing. Please help with any info you have available.

Thanks

its possible, when my friends fca went bad it wouldn't fire all the injectors and it knocked real bad, something to consider. truck would start and run but sounded like it was going to tear apart.first thing is check for codes, his showed 2 injectors not firing.

I have an 04.5 w/5.9 and I made the mistake of using a FRAM oil filter "one time", the filter came apart, clogged the oil injector to the bottom of the #6 cylinder and caused a very loud knocking and I had to get a new motor!

Have it checked out by a competent mechanic, "probably" nothing more than an Injector, but then could also be a broken flex plate.

Could also be a rod, but unless you were doing something stupid, or aren't telling us the whole story, it would be one of the last things I would suspect.
