Engine Flush
Engine Flush
Any thoughts on doing an engine flush using, Amsoil Engine Flush (AEF)? I'm switching from conv. oil to full sysn. amsoil and I'm just wondering if doing a flush is going to cause any issues. I know people don't recco. a trans fluid flush, just wondering if the same goes for engine oil.
thanks in advance.
thanks in advance.
I would say that the flush may be excessive , the Amsoil with blend with conventional oil just fine .
I have seen oil analysis that maybe , excess breaking free with changing oils , but after the first change , it may not be an issue .
I am a fan of flushing , the vast majority of trany fluid is left in the rest of the trans. , vs. just dropping the pan , its a waste to put 1/4-1/3 of the volume , new oil to old .

when i switch to full syn, i just changed my oil at regular intervals for a year (twice) then switched to my extended oil change. hundreds of people switched to syn without doing a flush, you will be fine the traditional way
thanks. just got done doing the change over. just ran it and got it good and hot, then pulled the plug and let it drain for an hour. i'll do an analysis at my next change to see what's going on in there.
