Engine Block heater request..

Do you have to request that the cord be installed from the dealer???? My 07 5.9 did not come with one in the normal place unless I am missing it. It's a calif truck. DOes that make any difference?

dodge made it an option since i believe '03. cummins put the block heater in, dodge makes the cord an option. get one from a cummins dealer, Fleetguard #??2525. it is a $10 option before purchase, local dealer wanted around $55, napa wanted around $50, CUMMINS DEALER $11 and some change.

Where would I look to see if there is a block heater installed on my 05? I know there is no cord but am curious where the cord would attach if there is a heater.

GEjim, from what I understand ALLLLLL cummins motors have the Block heater already installed. They all just don't come with a cord. Just to the left of your oil filter if your looking at it from the Passenger fender is a Plug. Looks like a plug coming out of the block. There is a black plastic cap. Thats the block heater..

$57 from the local dealer for just the cord. $15 from the cummins dealer for the cord. pretty good mark up huh?

Roperteacher, once again you guys amazed me. Sure enough I checked and there is a plug right where you said it would be. I will stop by Cummins and pick up a cord.
Thanks for the info.
