Talking Electronic Waste gate controler

Hey guys, I have a question regarding the electronic waste gate controller (silonoid) on my '07 5.9. Lately the truck has been throwing the code P0243 again. When It was doing it last summer, after doing some research, I found the problem was a broken wire on the pigtail leading to the controller, I fixed the break and all was fine till about a month ago when it started throwing the code again. I crawled under the truck expecting to see another break in the wire but instead I can plainly see that where the two wires go into the controller, the cover over the wires is split and and green with corrosion. I can not fix that! What I am wondering is, is there a way to eliminate the electronic part of the turbo by using a boost elbow and the waste gate fooler cap and what else do I need? The turbo on the truck is stock and works just fine for what I do with it. everything is stock, I don't want to have to upgrade to an aftermarket piece just to eliminate that, I can get just the controller through work, but figured if there was a way to eliminate it altogether, I would. Thanks for any input!

Repairing/replacing the turbo electronic wastegate is what I recommend.

The electronic wastegate is pricey and you will likely have to remove the turbo to replace it. Approx US$370.

To eliminate the electronic wastegate is not easy.

You will need a wastegate fooler: ATS 2020102272 Wastegate Solenoid Harness Jumper 04.5-07 5.9L Cummins

You will have to remove the turbo, remove the old electronic wastegate, install a specialized plug (ATS sells one) and then drill and tap the turbo to install an adjustable boost elbow and connect the wastegate pressure line.

Then you will have to install a boost fooler or some kind of programmer to prevent overboost codes.

Once you have modified the wastegate, you will need a boost gauge and will have to adjust the wastegate to get the boost levels you desire.

solder a 147 ohm 2 watt resistor on the solenoid wires, that will eliminate the code, you can add a boost elbow to the turbo without removing it, set the boost to 32 psi, total time will take about an hour, this includes adjusting the pressure. we convert our solenoids to adjustable boost controllers that are super easy to adjust and do not have to pull the turbo, i have it down now where i can do one in about 1 1/2 hours including setting pressure, total cost is about $5 for the needle valve, the only problem for you it requires a torch and a lathe, a dremmel might do it but will be slow, if you want to tackle it pm me for how to. the pix also shows the hose you are going to insert the boost elbow into if you go that rout.

i just read stelth's post and i forget i need to explain more , for the boost gauge go to genosgarage.com and order a boost adapter RLT-ADAPTER for $7.50, go to autozone and get a oil pressure gauge installation kit with a copper line, for about $10, next from ww granger get a 0-60 psi glycerin filled gauge for $15, it will take you about 10 minutes to hook it up and take the truck out and accelerate hard and see where the waste gate opens at, adjust up or down and try again, once the opening is set remove gauge and keep for future troubleshooting
