Electric Fan Clutch wiring diagram

Please help.

Is there anyone with a factory manual for a 2003 or newer Dodge that would research the electric fan clutch operation and wiring of same? I am installing one on my '99 Cummins in a pusher motorhome configuration and I need to understand the electric controls of the fan clutch. I know it'll take some electronics to do it, maybe even a PWM computer output but I can handle that.

I have checked the five wires from the clutch and the red & green appear to be a tach generator output that provides an AC Mv signal to the computer for the amount of clutch slippage. I get about 6 Mv AC when given a good spin and appear to be linear to the RPM.

But I'm stumped with the other three wires, they have no continuity between them and do not output a voltage, AC or DC, when the clutch is spun. However, I do get readings when my multi-meter is set to diode test so the leads may go to a transistor, maybe to monitor radiator airflow temperature.

So what I need to know is how can I operate this fan clutch? There has to be a way for me to be able to engage or disengage it with an electric signal.

Please help.
Rick

I'm going to look in my 2004 manual but while I'm looking you can go to:

http://www.hemitruckclub.com/03DRM.pdf for the 2003 manual or

http://www.hemitruckclub.com/04manual/ for the 2004 manual.

Go to that 2004 shop manual page, 8W-30-54 and you'll find the info you want.

That's what I was looking for. Thank you very much.
I am still missing the operation details so if anybody has first hand knowledge of how to electrically engage this fan clutch, please help.

Thanks,
Rick

Welcome to the fun of trying to do something with the electronics on a Cummins. The wiring diagram shows how to connect it, but that is about all you'll get. The best way would be to put an oscilloscope on an engine and see what goes to the fan when someone commands it to "high" with a scan tool.

I'd do that for you, but I am really busy these days and I don't have a scan tool.
