elctronic shift control

elctronic shift control has gone toes up

just got the service 4x4 light, checked and no engagement my theory is electric motor is shot. first hickup in 62k miles, anyone have any idea how much the part is and any better place to get than my local dealer.

There are at least 25 trouble codes (and 10 will turn on the light) for the electronic transfer case.

I think you'll need the DRB III scan tool to read the codes.

Check the fuses first. Disconnect and reconnect the transfer case wiring. I wouldn't just throw a motor at it before thorough diagnosis.

bigdave thanks for the reply, it now has a history. cold no light 4x4 works, after a few miles and things heat up service light comes on. i am thinking low fluid in transfer case and will be checking that this evening.
