Cummins Smoking While Idling
Fellow Diesel Users, I am rather new to this site and have added my $ 0.02 to some of the questions posted. Now I have a question. I have a 2003 Dodge Quad dually LWB HO Cummins, auto trans, 2WD positrac equipped with a K&N filter, Edge Attitude chip, 4" exhaust system, low profile aux. fuel tank and some exterior dressings. It has and does perform very good. However about a week ago I noticed that it seems to be smoking more at idle than usual. I checked the air filter and it's clean. I have not noticed any change in the engine's performance. It still runs great and still has plenty of power. I have used 2 types of fuel additive/injector cleaners with the last being Lucas. I made several long trips using Lucas without much smoke at idle so I don't believe it is the additive. I could be wrong, however. I will be in Baton Rouge, LA in December and intend taking it by T&T Performance, the guys who sold and put on the add-ons. They also have a loading dyno. Great guys if you're ever in that area and need diesel help. Any of you guys have any suggestions?

Cummins Smoking Whle Idling
The smoke is black. It's not white. I know it will smoke when first started and when you get down on it but this is after it has been running for a while and sitting idling or when standing in traffic. When running down the road you can't see any smoke until you get down on it and this is understandable, it's a diesel. I get concerned about the amount of smoke when sitting idling. I keep checking to see if I'm burning tires.
