Thanks for posting this up as this is on my "to-do" list. Looks like there are a few ways to skin this cat. With my luck I'll probably need a combination of them to get the job done.

Lost...
There is/was a service 'fix' for this shimmy which included a rubber 'snubber' which fits over the barrel of the steering stabilizer and attaches to a bracket on the axle (cant recall how the dealership/owners attached the bracket but I think it was u-bolted on).
Call it a band-aid but if it works its better than living with this shimmy. Plus it should help with the life of the front axle and suspension components. I'f I had this problem I'd be getting it done.
As far as ball joints on one end of the previous model...I know the axle end was a bushing and cant recall about the frame end. It also had this shimmy problem (possibly even worse) so I dont expect a ball-joint would help (I'd rather have a bushing for a trackbar attachment).

We've run a few dozen BFGs (the old AT KO) on our shop trucks without any issues - maybe the newer version (KM2?) isn't so good... we switched to Toyo MTs a few years back.
Band-aids are fine (sure better than nothing) - we just repair & correct what's actually wrong with the front end.
