E-brake question

So I have a 04.5 2500 QC short box with the auto tranny and have a small leak on the tranny cooler. Drove about 10 miles and went to check the oil level, put it in neutral, stepped on the e brake and the motor died, all gauges went dead but every thing else worked. so I released the e brake still no start so I checked the fuse box and the number 20 fuse ( Ignition, gauge cluster, start run) was burnt so I replaced it, gauges worked and it started right up. Then I reapplied the e brake and the same thing happened again .. has anyone else had this happen and if so what did you do to fix it?? I see nothing that would tie the e brake circuit to the ignition wiring.

I have not seen this happen before but I would start looking for chaffed wiring in the vicinity of the e-brake pedal.
Back to morning brew . . .
