Dynatrac Locking Hub Kit

I am going to install a Kit I was getting tired of the grinding sound it was making while driving along with some steering Wheel Tension. Upon Installing my new trac Bar--End Links-- Steering Stabilizer From Thuren Fabrication I Pulled The Shaft off at one end And Wired UP Heavily High into the the bottom of the truck. I First noticed about 3-MPG Differance instantly on the Truck Computer went 22.8 mpg- Rides So much nicer Quite No Tension on Steering. So I need to order a Front End Locking Hub Kit.
I Am Interested in One that I had seen , The Hub Did Not stick out as Far as the Others, More of a Stubby system if you Will Anyhow does anyone know the maker of this Kit for an 05- Dodge-2500.

When I looked for hubs to put on my truck there was not a short kit. Dynatrac I believe makes one for Fords.

Dynatrac, EMS and SolidAxle are your choices unless someone else has created a kit since last summer. I chose SolidAxle after researching all 3 and have been very HAPPY! Everyone I spoke with that had any of these kits has been very happy. Many excellant posts regarding the Hubs on this site. Good Luck with your choice...

I also had the Solid Axle lock outs installed on my 06 2500 6spd @ 20,000 miles. I did a recent road trip from MA to GA to pick up a trailer and averaged 21.5 to 22.7 mpg! (all hand calculated). This was driving 65-75 mph. This is about 3 to 4 mpg better than I used to get.

The fact that the hubs stick out doesn't bother me at all.

I had Scott at Mass Diesel do the work. Good people and great work at fair prices.

I would recommend Dyna trac. Order the system with their upgraded hubs and you wont be disappointed. They are a very reliable and ridged system. Rockhard Ram ran them for sledpulling and that is one bad truck. If they can hold up to that they will hold up to anything normal trucks throw at them.

My friend had the Dynatrac system w/Dynaloc hubs installed. He's only realized a 1.5 mpg. increase though. Eliminating all that rotating mass and having servicible hubs though sure is nice! Makes bj installs much easier too!

Do you have stock rims? How much do the hubs stick out past the edge of the tires?

These do not look any shorter than my SolidAxle hubs. When I started looking around I called Dynatrac and asked if they sold a Short hub for my 2004.5 and was told they did not offer a short style for the Dodges? Where did you buy the short hub style from? What was the part #?
Mine stick past my rim by about the size of the manual hub selector. Looks very similar to your pictures. I still think the best part of SolidAxle kit is they come completely assembled. It is a time saver and if you do not have a hydraulic press to assemble the kits the right way you can damage them. Do the Dynatrac come with new wheel studs? Installed? How does it say to install these?

2 wheel drive low is another benefit of free-spin front axle..

Tq-master... Good luck with your selection..

I bought mine directly from Dyantrac and it was a different number to that on their website. Can't remember the part number offhand. They also sell the Warn hubs, but they stick out quite a bit further than the Dynatrac.
The kits come with new wheel studs and each one needs to be installed. Each stud is about 3 feet long and needs to be cut shorter if you want to use the OE covers.

Is there any problem running these kits with the hubs locked on dry
pavement?

Before I get the moron about 4wd and dry pavement lecture here's my senario.

I'm going to Tahoe, now when the pavement is dry I tool along in 2wd when I hit snow or ice I put it in 4wd I don't have to stop or get out. Can I leave the hubs locked and run it the same way as I do now?

You can leave the hubs locked with the transfer case in 2wd. Just like the stock Dodge setup.

i have had the dyna trac set up on my truck for 2 years- no problems! gained an additional 1.25 mpg. i occasionally lock the system in four wheel drive on dry pavement (during the summer time and run it on a straight road for a couple of miles to lube everything up- no problems either) highly recommend the dyna tracs!

The original design hubs don't stick out very far if you are running H2s.

Billybob Front Spin Kit--
For Now I just Took The Shaft off from the Engine Side A Mounted it Securely up under the Top of the Frame for Now Until Dynatrac is Installed.
I Instanatly Noted a 2.5 MPG Gain on the On- Board Computer.
And Got Rid Of the Grinding Sound And Steering Wheel (Tourque )
Mine Will Go back Together when I get the Dynatrac System. Pretty Pathetic they Cut the Corner Hear they Could Stand out a leader in the pack and Provide All Trucks with Solid Axle 4-wheel Drive with Manual Locking Hubs.
They Use to Do it On Ford Truck I Remember it was stadard on an F-250 back in the Mid Seventies. I have No- Problem Getting Out of My Truck And Turning A little **** , To Ensure I am using only 2- Wheel Drive. a no brainer for the increased driving comfort and loss of Torque Steering wheel feel will be Gone along with gaining myself 2.0 mpg and a much nicer Riding Truck .
It's a Win Win!
