We have a durmax in the yard right now with 4x4 not working and broken park gear at 70000 miles.Last duramax had problems with tranny. First one had problems with wiring going to tranny. If you like a certain brand better you will put up with more problems with them. My point being we have had good luck with some trucks and some bad. We have had more problems with ford than the other 2. Dodge and GM products have both been pretty good to us over the years but sometimes you get one that just dont stay together well. We have had to rplace one duramax one cummins and 3 fords because of having to go to the shop to much.
I agree. I work on all of them, and I sure would never say a GM is better than anything else. Just saw a Dmax with under 35k miles and both axle seals on the back were barfing out copious amounts of oil. Same truck has already had inner tie rod ends replaced for premature looseness. These things just happen, and they happen on everything.

Don’t GM and Dodge use the same AAM Axles? Your leaks are probably due to all the vibrations. You need to get those sorted out.

My bros truck wouldn't start at this temp either, but it's just due to bad batteries. My dads truck started just with barely being plugged in. It makes a huge difference for sure. I don't see how you are spending $4500 a year unless you are putting a ton of miles on it.

My truck has started with no problem at -26F (-32C in here in America) without being plugged in. Did it like? No not really, but it fired right up after just a few revolutions.

I dont know how it would be possible for it to vibrate at X speed, regular transmission mode, but at X speed in tow/haul it doesnt. Im not even sure thats possible? Haha. Mine just vibrates sometimes around 100 or so, but not everytime.

Good luck gettin it figured out. Dont jump ship (especially not to GM!)

Sallyman are you running antigel in your fuel? Might be why its not starting.Try some "Heat" fuel addative. For the Wobble get the dealer to inspect the front end. I have had 3 sets of ball joints and 2 sets of Ujoints in less than 120 000 kms. Even if thats not the issue they will toss in some new parts under warranty and the steering will feel better for a while. does the wobble show up at all if you just drive around in tow haul?

im a weirdo dumb butt stinker. i just got my truck going. i think i had a bad batch of fuel. i filled up at my normal fuel station (last tank i didnt) and added a whole bottle of antigel deicer/conditioner and drove snot out of truck. it seemed to clear up. doesnt vibrate anymore. must of been a miss of some sort. mAYBE water/ice in tank or fuel bowl. i emptied fuel bowl and removed filter and put filter back in and filled canistr up with conditioner. all seems good now. am i half retarded?> i need a kik in the ***

Good deal. Feels good when the problem ends up being something less than you originally thought.

I change my fuel filter just before winter and at the end of winter. I'm guessing you are in AB? Unless you got a bad batch of fuel you shouldn't need to add any antigelling additive. Doesn't hurt but the fuel we get up here is usually good WAY past the temps we've been getting.

I've got to say though I'm impressed with how well this truck starts. MUCH better than than my '01. Still not as good as my old '92 thoguh. That thing started better than some gas trucks I've had!

I started the '03 yesterday at -30C and it fired right up on the third crank. Running fresh 10/30 oil and its still got the factory batteries.

That is very hard on the motor.. it will probably cause fuel to build up in the oil, requiring much shorter oil change intervals.

Did you add some ATF? If you can't see it in N then you don't have enough.. assuming its warm..

so thats probably what did it right? bagging now and then wont be all that baad. see in summer we pull a 12000 lb camper regularily. in winter all we do is haul kids to babysitter and groceries.rarely get on highway.

Maybe mabye not.. If you got bad fuel thats the main culprit.

Vibration could have been ice buildup in the rims. My truck did that last week. Had warm slushy weather then over night a cold snap hit and the snow in the rims froze solid.

Took about 10km of highway driving to throw it out.
