Dual Oil Filter upgrade (Amsoil) Question

Hi All,
New to the board. Have a 2005 Ram QC SLT 4x4 HO 600 CTD LB, and still am below the first oil change interval. I will be running the Schedule "B" and doing changes at the more frequent rate. Additionally have only (2) free oil changes from the ******* (dealer). After they are used up, I plan on doing my own changes.

I have wanted to use the system that Amsoil has for "Dual" oil filtration with a by-pass.

Basically, does anyone run this setup. I know it cost more for the filters but I don't see why it would be a bad idea otherwise??

Thank you all in advance,
Gary

Amsoil is a high quality oil and I run the dual filters w/bypass.
Have you looked at the single filter as a bypass? The dual filter uses a full flow and bypass filter. It works but there are advantages to using just the single bypass setup. The Amsoil filters are more expensive than the fleetguard or other quality filters. The dual filter lowers the oil pressure, I think due to the oil lines that it uses. Mine was reduced by 15 lbs or so when I changed. If you used the single (I think it is the BMK-11) bypass filter you can still use the more econimical full flow filters and still have the benefit of bypass filtration.
There are several other bypass filter setups such as the Franz and oilguard that seem to remove the small particles in the oil like the Amsoil brand. I do like the Amsoil system and if I had to do it over again I would have just used the single bypass filter from Amsoil

I use the 15-40 marine oil. I also do extended drains with 48 thousand or so on the oil at the moment. I read for several years about Amsoil and extended drains and have confidence in it.

Good luck, any of the bypass filters or systems is a plus as far as I am concerned.

Thats what I'm looking for feed back on the systems, Thanks and I'll do some more research on the single filter setup with a bypass.

Bypass Filter

I am using a Premo bypass filter, see setup in my photo gallery. I have installed a Autometer oil pressure guage meter in a T from the line between the stock main oil filter adapter and the Premo bypass. I have not seen a drop in pressure on my factory oil pressure gauge and the Autometer pressure is good. Really like the Premo as I can take a sample for analysis with the engine running after warm up.

Note: DC factory pressure gauges are notorious for reading improperly, but then all you are looking for is general positon and trend of the pressure gauge.

Good Luck,.............dogger

Check with Lightman, on this site. He has the dual by-pass system (Amsoil) along with a neat mounting system that does not transfer vibrations, which, is a common problem with this system, from what i've heard.

There is a wealth of information on by-pass filtration on "bobistheoilguy.com". Click on forums and go down to by-pass filters.

Some of the TP (toilet paper) filters, like Frantz & Motorguard, etc. require you to change the by-pass filter quite frequently but, filters are cheap and they aparently work.

Look at the Oilguard set-up, also. I am somewhat intrigued by it. "oilguard.com".

Also, you may want to check into the effects of one of these systems on your engine warranty. It's something to consider!!!

I run the Amsoil BE-100 single and like it alot, feeds from discharge of the OEM filter out the top 1/4" npt (10% slip stream) thru the polish filter and returns into a swiveled fitting on the filler cap, I made a bracket so the polish filter can mount to the block under the turbo
