drone, came out of nowhere? why?

drone, came out of nowhere? why?

so i noticed the other night i have a good amount of drone in my truck. i even notice it with the windows down. what the heck? it hasnt done that before. where or what could have caused it to start occurring? what can i do to fix it?

I've started having more of a drone once I hit 45,000miles.

where are you at your engine break in?

Mufflers probably burned out, time to get a new one.

you may be right about that one.. its got probably.. 60k on it but still.

I know what your saying, but the harder you drive it the faster things wear out...

ha, i honestly dont drive it that fast... i found a donaldson thats around the same size.. plan on going to that.

well looking at your signature I would have to say driving fast is not the same as driving hard , but I have the 51" Donaldson and like it a lot, it definetly cut the drone out.....

i had the 51" and sold it.. went back to the hog performance muffler. i really dont do either. i get into it from time to time but, hey you gotta drive 'em hard from time to time...

Have you checked all of your grommets on the exhaust? Maybe one wore off or your pipe is against something.

As far as the muffler goes, I've been very happy with these:

I run the twister, but the others are even a little more quieter.

I had that happen to me and it was a cracked weld in the muffler and it was Banks. They warrantied it and all is good. Dosen't happen often but sometimes it does.
