drone

I used 5 tie-wraps on the hydraulic hoses going back to the booster and secured both hoses together. It really seems to have stopped the drone! I am amazed to find such a simple and easy fix for this problem. I could really hear the change in the exhaust note (although I don't understand that because this has nothing to do with the exhaust apparently) which always occurred exactly at 2000 RPM. Anyway after using the tie-wraps to secure the two hoses together, it stopped completely! I may re-do it though using some heater hose to isolate the two hoses from each other for wear. There are no more vibration or noise issues at this time. Just a good-running, tight, well-built truck. Ford and Chevy owners have so much to be jealous of!

Thanks to the guys on the forum for this simple, effective and cheap fix. Now I need to get either an aero-turbine for the exhaust or a whole new exhaust. I think the stock exhaust is too restrictive. Then a fuel preporator and then gauges. That ought to pretty much do it for my truck. Well except that I may get the Diamond-X exterior protection done on the paint from Ziebart. This truck has so much sheet metal it takes a whole afternoon to wax it...

I love this truck! Soon as I can get some pics will update profile.

What hyd hoses are you referring to? Power steering hoses? Were they rubbing on the frame or something, or vibrating in space?

Don't forget that the drone you actually hear is a combination of every piece of gear on the truck that makes noise added together. Its just that some parts make larger (louder) contributions than others. Note, that if you can't make it quieter directly, you may help the noise reduction by changing the resonance frequency to reduce the peak energy at particular frequencies so it seems to be quieter - which is what you did. Nice job!
