I got the HO 6sp in my 2001.5 2500... no tranny probs yet. Got a problem with the clutch master cyl and the dealer is jacking me around, but I love the tranny. Got low miles on my truck, but the tranny's still as tight as the day I got it. I think your mate with the Chev is jealous cuz you're getting the truck he wishes he'd have gotten. Enjoy your new truck and welcome to the site! -Dave

You know I think your right!! He had to replace the allsion at 20000miles because it want to run in 2nd and 3rd at the same time
. Thats one of the reasons I went with the dodge!!

I have the new 6-speed NV5600 in my dodge. I love it. It the beefiest manual I've ever see on a 1-ton truck. It's a slick shifting tranny too. I love the close ratios and how little you have to move the shifter to change gears. Those Aliisons in the Duraturds are all going out around 16-57k miles. They're all having that problem. Plus the injectors getting clogged and running only on 7 cyls sometimes 6... just too new of an engine to be buying.... not to mention it has more pistons than it does main bearings.
O.T. - Tell me about your Jeepster!!
North: I've got a 2003 Ram and a 1970 Jeepster as well! What a small world... What can you tell me about yours? I'm running a 10.5:1 327c.i.d. Chebby in mine, and it's just a blast (when the brakes work...). I live in Washington, where in the north are you?
Re:Drivetrain problems? newbie
Tell that MaxiPad guy that the NV5600 (six speed cog box)
is 250 lbs more than the 5speed. That means bigger gears
more meat and durability. Mine has 85k on it now, tow a 5fer
and have had no problems with it other than the occassional
3rd gear grind which seems to be common with all of them.
The box is covered up to 100k by Dodge. If it starts to screw up they have been good about changing them out, so I've heard. Anyway, if your towing, thats what you want. If you want to race, get the mush box. You're not going winn any races with the six speed unless your at 70mph in 6th. A stock
Max will stay with you but won't pass you. Leave the short bed max alone. It don't weigh nothing and can't do anything anyway.

Dave
