Drivetrain help??

Hey guys... I have the truck in the sig.. Recently the 1st to 2nd shift has been very soft and almost feels like a centrifigal (sp) clutch on a go cart or something....all other changes seem ok, Maybe , barely noticeably different. but when it lock up it seems fine... Is this a band adjustment, converter taking a crap, or tranny taking a crap?? truck has the HO motor and 48re with 64,000 on the ticker... I may try to pull the edge off it and take it to the dealer and see if they will warranty it...

What do you guys think??? Thanx in advance

How much of that Edge power have you used in those 64,000 miles?

Stock converters and trannies can only hold so much for so long...

Might be time for an upgrade. Once you get a tighter converter and built trans you'll have wondered why you didn't do it in the first place. It's costly, but it's the best (only) way to put the power to the ground. It felt like I added 100hp when I did mine.

Well, Truthfully, I usually run around on #1 setting usually never higher than #3... but every once in a while, I will make a blast on #5... Would adjusting the bands help at all.. I am starting to get that 1-2 hunt everyone talks about as well..

a full boogey transmission and converter is out of the question at this point... I am going thru a divorce and it is sucking me dry... What midddle of the road upgrades could I look to do if I do a rebuild myself?? Decent converter, Valve body, and????

Depends.... are you doing the labor yourself or are you paying someone?

Well the bare minimum would be a converter and valve body but I'd spend a few extra on a flexplate also.... It's just so much work that most would rather save up to do it once and (hopefully) only once.

I guess I am loking at it from a stand point that this is my driver and I don't need/plan any more power in the future at this point.. I already have a money pit (1200hp mustang) that gets all the money thrown into it... I am gettin
tired of endless modifications on everything I own..
