driveline vibration

My first post here, hopefully someone can help. I've got an '03 Ram 3500 SRW w/138k (CTD w/AT) 4X4. Recently, my truck developed a vibration that could be felt under the driver seat. Not in the steering wheel, though. It starts about 60mph, and is non existant below that. 2 weeks after that started, my front driveshaft failed (socket around ball in front). Taking the driveshaft out, the vibration was gone. After having it rebuilt and putting back in, the vibration is back. I'm lost. Anyone else ever had this problem or familiar with this? Truck is stock. Thanks!

When you had your front driveshaft put back on do you know if they balanced it?

No, I don't. It was a reputable driveshaft shop, and there were marks where you can see that they at least try to line it back up right. I'm going to pull it back out and take it back there. I believe this vibration is what killed the shaft to begin with. I don't know how they balance driveshafts, but I don't remember seeing any counterweights on it. Possible transfer case issues??

I had my u-joints go out on my old 2wd chevy and I when I put them in myself I got a mean vibration and then made more problems. The only thing I could think of on yours is that when they took it off they just put the marks, and when they put it back together they just lined up the marks and left it at that. You might just need to have them check the balance and maybe put a couterweight or two. Let me know what happens. I really hate driveshaft problems so I know what your going through.

Problem solved. The new end that was welded on was not on straight. Took it to another shop, and they rewelded that end on and balanced it. Another $90, but well worth it.
