Drive-shaft vibration in the Winter....
First of all, I would like to say that this forum is excellent and full of info. I just signed up today, but have been reading the threads for the past year or so before buying my 03 2500 sport 4x4 Cummins HO, 6spd…now has 8000k on it. This truck convinces me that by far I made the right choice. But anyway, here is the little problem I have found that I think everybody should know about that lives in harsher climates. (Canada) Snow and ice in the box of the truck. Nice day it melts going down through the drain holes. You would think that would be a good thing except when it is draining through the center hole at the front of the box draining down onto the driveshaft. Yes you guess it…water melts drips down the hole onto the cold drive shaft and builds up ice on one side of it. Which throws it out of balance…. produces a vibration and beats the crap out of the U-joints.
Nothing worse then at the end of a day needing to climb under your $50,000 dollar truck to break off the build up of ice on the drive shaft before you head home with it.

Easy fix…yes….but still a problem.
