Drive shaft and transfer case lift and knock?
Drive shaft and transfer case lift and knock?
?Hey y’all I posted a little while back about a small leak I’ve got in my automatic. I periodically roll under the truck on my creeper with a flashlight to inspect. I’m getting ready for a trip so I was under the truck today and there is the usual drops of trans fluid under the fluid case, the transfer case and a tad on the driveshaft. I checked my levels and all’s good there.
While I was under there I lifted and tried to shake my driveshaft and check my U-joints. Right where the drive shaft goes into the transfer case the shaft and the T-case can be lifted a little bit. I could make it “knock” a little but I couldn’t get anything out of the U-joints. The whole drive shaft and transfer case could be shifted a bit. I wouldn’t say it’s wobbly but you can lift it a fews millimeters and see the rubber trans mounts move a tad. I checked all of the bolts on the trans crossmember and the bell housing and everything is tight. Is this movement normal?
