Dripping from crankcase vent?

My new truck left about a 2 ft diameter spot on the driveway last night, looks to have come from the area of the crankcase vent tube. I smelled fumes (smelled like gear lube to me) all the way home from the dealer.

I understand the new oil/fumes phenomenon, but has anyone actually had the thing drip oil on the ground? All though, the way this spread, it seems more like diesel fuel.

Possibly causing the oil to exit out the vent? You said it might be fuel? Check the fuel bowl drain lever to ensure its closed. Gear lube smell inside the cab? Not sure about that, unless someone had dirty shoes and the smell rubbed off onto the floormat.

I also have never had this oil smell in the cab. If you lost that much oil out of the vent tube and you just picked up the truck from the *******, I'd take it back asap. Let them figure it out.

2 cents

Re:Dripping from crankcase vent?

Thanks for the replies.

I had some time last night to get under it and look for the source but found nothing. I drove it last night and parked it in a different spot and this morning there was nothing under it. Maybe I parked over a spot that someone else's car left in the drive, I dunno.

I still smell the oil smell, though.
