Mine chirps sometimes, I love it, especially when passangers eyes get real big when your fifteen mi. into a hunting or fishing hole. I usually will look at 'em and say WOW this truck has never made THAT sound before!!

Priceless.

My '91 chirped real loud until I replaced the tensioner, then no chirp at all. The '05 gives just a real short chirp every time.

With 39,500 miles, it does it 95% of the time. My previous trucks, a 91' and a 98.5' CTD, both did it. I guess it's better to chirp than burp !!

The auto trucks will do it more often than the manual trucks because a flexplate is lighter than a flywheel. The extra rotating mass from the flywheel keeps most manual trucks from giving the cummins a "power chirp" Mine has never done it, but I always listen close at shutdown hoping it will.

Similar here. My original belt, which shredded at 5400 miles, was awful, worse than my Ford PSD. The replacement belt (which is crosshatched, while the original wasn't) does it only about 50% of the time.

MY little ol' "shouldn't chirp/no compression" 03 chirps like the big dogs..... I love it, lets me know she's shuttin' down.

Mine has always chirpped! At first I thought something might be wrong until I read my owners manuel! Bye the way I now have 41,000 miles on my rig.
