Dodge front end
Dodge front end
After owning my 06 4X4 since new, not off roading it and maintaining it I have to wonder it this isn't the biggest pile of junk I have owned. I have 77,000 miles on it. The pinion seal is leaking. One axle joint is shot and the other hub bearing is bad. In addition, the ball joints are showing wear. This is aside from the front seat issues and nit picky electrical problems. Are other owners of 06 Dodges experiencing the same? How have you delt withthe front end issues? Thanks for you input.

Welcome to the Dodge front end problem world. These trucks are notorious for eating ball joints, axle joints, and occasionally the unit bearings. You can do a search and find pages of material on this. Your problems are just as common as everyone else's.

I have to agree with you, I have an 06. I have had nothing but problems. 50,000 miles injection pump, so the whole fuel system got replaced. 70,000 miles injectors again and at 98,000 miles lost #3 cylinder and got a new engine. Drove it 10 miles and it shut down. Front crank seal was out and didn't have enough oil in it, but yet there was no oil leaking so somebody must have washed the oil away. So they put a new seal in and a year later and only 10,000 miles seal starts leaking again and so it got a wear sleeve put on the crank. I have replaced ujoints and ball joints actually I have gone through the whole front end and now it is doing a weird hopping and drives like crap. It also clunks when turning hard in either direction. My heated seat quit working on the drivers side also. Power adjust pedal was messed up and dodge was going to warranty it out but they were back ordered and never got back to me. So yes, I completely understand the issues you are having. I also have tranny problems, it doesn't want to move if the truck has been starting and it needs a governor solenoid from a past problem that dodge was suppose to fix on warranty. I wish I would have bought a different year truck.
I bought my truck with 27K on it. At 35K, I had the transmission rebuilt under warrently. Now it has 89K on the odometer.
A while back I did a brake job. Routine maint as needed. New batteries last winter. New tires this fall. Right outer tie rod end last month after trauma. It starts up every morning, and takes me where I need to be. Still gets 18-20mpg, and has gobs of power.
The only thing that doesn't work correctly is the heater door. I can't get heat to my feet. Kind of annoying.

I feel your pain....need a fourth pinion seal.
I am actually looking to see if the front part of the frames are the same and would allow a swap of a two wheel drive front axle.
I'm at 177K and looking a needing a complete front end rebuild.
Makes me long for the old F$%d king pin front ends!
