Different oils on the AFE filter?

I cleaned the filter this afternoon, and started spraying oil on it. It was blue oil that I bought a while ago as part of the clean/oil kit sold by Geno's. I was only able to get a thin film on before the can ran out. I opened another cleaning kit that I ordered from Geno's a few weeks ago because I knew the blue oil was running out. When I started spraying the new can, it was yellow oil, not blue.

Apart from inventing a new, weird color, blellow, will it hurt anything? Both oils are from Geno's cleaning kit. Do I need to clean it again and use all yellow oil?

Thanks.......Steve

Personally, I would reclean it and use the yellow oil
just to be safe.
But thats why I went with a dry filter.
So i dont have the to much or not enough oil problem.

I think you should use AFE oil to clean an AFE filter. They make their filters for their oil.

Both oils are AFE oils. I got them from Geno's Garage.

The first can I used was blue oil, the second spray can had yellow oil in it.

It should not matter as long as it is AFe oil. The color is just a dye so you could see the where you havesprayed and where you need to spray or in other words, coverage. On another note, I have a question about using a different cleaning kit, like K&N on a AFe filter. Will it hurt anything?

Didn't AFE use different color oil to distinguish the stage II filter element?

I wouldn't worry with it. But then again its not my truck
This advice of course coming from someone who didn't have a cleaning kit for the Airraid intake I have. So I just used Dawn dish soap to clean then reoiled with a mix of 2stroke and tranny fluid in a spray bottle. Seems to be working so far.

Most all the cleaning kits contain the same cleaner and the same oil, the color has to do with being able to see where you have sprayed, and sometimes the color is the sig color of the company.

I use a dry Amsoil filter with outerwears. It eliminates the need for all of the cleaning and oiling. Just pull the filter off, pull the outerwears off, hit both separately with compressed air, then re-assemble. All of about 5 mins and ready to go again.
