Diesel smell in cab

I purchased a 2006 2500 with a CTD last week. Very impressed with its performance over the first couple of hundred miles but have two problems. When I idle I get a strong diesel fuel (not exhaust) smell in the cab. This is with all windows closed. The second is that, even though it is tacking at 700-800 at idle, the truck wants to get going. Yesterday it got up to 20 mph after I took my foot off the brake without touching the accelerator. I'm bringing it back into the dealer in a couple of days but would like to go in armed with any similar experiences of others. Thanks for your input.

The SMELL will go away.More then likely additives in the OIL.Some oils STINK for a few hundered miles. No advise on the 700/800 rpm thing.

Welcome to DTR

The tranny thing sounds normal. These babies put so much torque to the TC (torque converter) they really want to get going. Remember that when you are on icy roads, slip it into N. Front brakes really can take a beating too. Keep an eye on the pads.

Sorry it us so long to respond. I must have been asleep.

It WILL go away. I think everybodys truck does that when they first get it.
I've heard of LOTS of'em!

The smell in the cab of the newer trucks is from the breather I believe. Some kinds of oil are worse than others. I had the same problem and switched oil to Mobil Delvac 1300 15W-40 and the problem quickly went away. As far as the tranny, I don't know, check with the dealer.
