Diesel fuel additive poll

I am new to diesel ownership and have done a search on weather or not to use a diesel fuel additive. It seemed to me that there were good agruements on both sides of the issue. This made me more confused then I was when I started. So i though a simple poll might be the answer being that I didn't see a poll on this in any of the article in my search

I use Howe's Meaner Kleaner in every tank and recently stopped with MMO but started with 2 stroke injector oil.

my mix!

I use 4 oz of 2 stroke oil in every tank, 4 oz acetone in most every tank, and power service every two to three tankfulls. I also add marvel mystery oil instead of the 2 stroke oil maybe once a month.

Quietest mix- Marvel mystery, Acetone and a full load of Power service lubrication, when I use these 3 together the thing sounds like a gasser!

Best mileage, acetone and power service- 4 oz acetone and a normal mix of power service. 23-25 mpg at 65.

Bad mileage- occasionally I end up out of everything at the same time or filling up on a trip with nothing to add, 21 -22 mpg and noisy at 65.

Another fan of Power Service here. I usually use the white bottle in the winter and the grey in the summer.

I have used what seems to be every brand of injector cleaner on the market and have noticed no gain in performance, mileage or quieter injectors . I now refer to injector cleaners and their claims as nothing but Snake Oil's.

Power Service Diesel Kleen (grey bottle) in the summer and white in the winter. I run it in every tank with about 4oz of Marvel's. Works for me. I know the grey gives me about a mpg. White doesn't do anything for me besides peace of mind that the truck won't gel and that the pump still getting fairly well lubricated on the #1 they have in the pumps up here. With Power Service (white bottle) my truck hasn't gelled yet, and it's been parked outside, unplugged overnite (I know, bout had a heart attack when I saw I had forgot) @ -40. Still started, first flick of the key. Rattled like it was gonna blow up, and smoked like it was on fire! But she ran!

Another thing I like about Stanadyne is they come in "single serving" bottles.

They call them "one shot".

They treat 30 gallons so if you start looking for fuel about 1/4 tank it works perfect. Just open, pour into tank, and throw in garbage at fuel station.

I can't imagine filling empty bottles at home with my own "home brew" or only using half a bottle and having it rolling around my truck just waiting to leak.

Best all around system in my opinion.

Been using seafoam lately seems to quite the beast some, can't say anything about mpg. And most importantly stopped my fuel pressure gauge from acting like its on crack, why I dont know but if I run a tank without seafoam the gauge is like an addict jones'n, add seafoam queit and smooth.

Thumbs up

I like power service and the marvel oil mix. I used to run stanadyne until i poured powerservice and stanadyne in 2 cups and could tell no differance in either smell or sight. They seem to be identical other than price. I dont think it matters as much what you use just so long as you use something. Your cp3 and injectors will thankyou.
