Deeper tranny pan lower temperature?

Are the deeper transmission pans that hold more fluid proven to lower fluid temperature? I understand that more fluid is better.

I put a PML pan on mine that has an extra 2 quarts capacity and I didn't see any change.

I have a mag-hytec double deep pan-- I believe that is good for an additional gal. of fluid. I don't remember really, so it is at least 2 qts. for sure. In any case, to answer your question, it simply takes longer for the entirety of the fluid to heat up. Once there, it does not mean the tranny as a whole runs any cooler than it normally did. What it does mean is the fluid will last longer having made fewer trips through the system in the same time and, probably more important and to the question at hand, when flogging the motor and tranny and making all that heat, it takes a fair amount longer to reach those higher temps that can be damaging to the fluid and in turn the tranny. Call it extra protection for that. A side benefit is that if you have a leak or something goes wrong and you lose fluid, you have that extra 2-4 qts of reserve capacity over stock that can be lost before a problem really starts. That is by virtue of the pick up tube and filter extending lower into that deep pan.

Just an FYI, the Mag Hytec DD pan adds an additional 4 quarts of fluid over stock.

So, does the Mag-Hytech DD pan add a gallon or 4 quarts?
