There is fill level mark on the diff cover, many mechanics over fill these diffs which could cause the seal to start leaking.

So could the mag-hytec diff cover be aiding this problem since it doubles the fluid capacity of the diff from 4 qourts to 8

Wow, that's an interesting place. You might find practices like this at a small indy shop owned by a guy named Bubba. But a dealership?
- Pads contaminated by gear oil need to be replaced. They can't be cleaned.
- Axle bearings don't need packing.
- If the pads were not replaced, why flush the brake fluid?
I would spend some time crafting a very nice letter to the BBB.

he is referring to a level issue, not a quantity issue. yes the maghytec doubles the volume but not the level of fluid in relation to the horizontal plane of the axle.

It's not the amount of fluid but more the fluid level in the housing. Why would American Axle put a full level mark on the diff cover?? I have changed many of these seals and most of the time I find the diff fluid level over filled. Is it the fluid causing seal to start leaking? The engineers don't know, Chrysler has been requesting every seal returned to them that has been replaced under warranty to find out why.

I had the replace brake fluid just to do it its never been done. Funny thing is if I had not made them change the fluid they would never found the leak. They called me said I had greese on my rotors and that caused the smoke issue and that they cleaned it off and my truck was ready for pic up. So If I never asked them to do the fluid they would never have figured it out. That should have been my trigger point to just leave and have gone to a different dealer or shop.
