Dealer Oil Change Cost
I should add though - what they charged you for the oil is outrageous. They buy it bulk, and they are gouging you.
I'd take it somewhere else next time if you can't do it yourself.

Nope, Just run a small shop. I cant get away with highway robbery lol
I really didn't intend this thread to turn into an oil bashin', but suspected it would. Some of you have missed my point.
Yes, I know I should be changing my own oil. I did it for quite a few years in the past but as one gets to a certain age, things change and one no longers has the ability to do things like he did in the past; at least at the same frequency.
What I have found out so far, is that Dodge no longer markets an oil product under the Mopar brand name. For diesel use they specify the Pennzoil brand and now require their dealers to use that. Initially a dealer could select his own product such as Valvoline Blue and use that. The cost was much lower than the Mopar brand. According to two dealerships they can now only use the Pennzoil brand.
Since Dodge is no longer using their propietary brand and using an off the shelf brand their pricing is way out of line.
Mysterync, do you work for a dealership. You quoted using Valvoline Blue at $15.99 per gallon. This is quite a bit less than the Dodge price of $25.00 per gallon for Pennzoil.

Heck my old dealer just went up last month for diesel oil changes from $39.95 to $49.95 so when I see anyone paying more I think they are getting ripped off. Oh and the oil used is Rotella along with a Mopar oil filter.
MOPAR ships the oil in a box of 3 one gallon jugs. No bulk from a gun AFAIK. I have one last stash of the old Mopar Max Pro CI-4+ (helps to be friendly with the parts dept). Yes, it is outrageous on the price, I totally agree!
I work on these Mopars every day, and the cost of what they charge for basic maintenance just blows me away.

My dealer let's me bring my own oil and filter and they change the oil and hit the three lube points for $18.
BTW, I usually get a Mopar filter at wally world for about $11 and usually pick up what ever approved grade oil they have reasonable there too. This go around I got Delvac for $10 a gallon.
