After I took my truck in for something, they flashed the computer and I lost About 2 MPG hand calculated. I’ve heard that you can go to Cummins (for a fee) and they can put back the old software and gain your MPG back. Anybody know if this is true?

I thought that only Dodge had rights to the engine software and that Cummins could not access it. I'm sure other's know more.

Have you talked to the dealer? What did they say?

 

Thanks for the heads up on that. I thought that happened to my old 2000 also. Could not prove it.

I'm getting ready to change my rear ratio and will need to take it in so the info on the ratio can be changed in the CPU. Regardless, I'm going to loose at least 1-2 mpg installing a 4:10. Don't want to loose another 2 mpg.

 

Happened on my 04. Took it to Cummins and cost me 250.00 to reset the original settings,well worth it though.

 

So you can take it to Cummins and get the original settings back. What do I tell Cummins when I go there?

 

I had the same thing happen to me after the last flash I had done, lost 1-1.5mpg hand-calc.

 

Never let a dealer fix something that isn't broke!!!
