Cummins vs. Duramax
I don't know, you tell me if the Dakota runs in the 7's in the quarter. Some of the new factory Corvettes will do over 200 MPH top speed, but they sure will not run in the 7's not even in the 8, 9 or 10's My point is, if Gale thought he would set a 1/4 mile record with a diesel powered engine other then a Duramax, don't you think he would have chosen another one?

Trying to keep this back on topic...
Ask him if a V configuration was so good for power, why do all the big rigs use the inline engines?? Dodge has always known they want raw pulling power and have always chosen Cummins because of the inline low RPM, high torque it produces to do the heavy pulling.

Gale chose the duramax for a couple reasons. #1 its because he has factory support when it comes to the duramax.. Ever notice that the dmax is the only engine he offers in a crate motor package?? If i was gonna be drag racing and blowing stuff up, I would definitely do it with a motor that I had lots of spare parts around. #2 He chose it because the dmax computer is ALOT more accessible for adjustment, IE: fuel curve.. a good thing when you preach smokeless power. Cummins could do it faster, it would just be dirtier.
20% fewer moving parts
More efficient
All cast iron (NO aluminum)
EPA rated as "medium duty engine" (Ford and chevy are light duty per EPA guidelines)
Cummins is used in up to 66k gross vehicle weight-duramax not rated that high
Ask him Why do they put CumminsB or CAT in the Ford F700?
Simpler engine, less things to go wrong
Easier to work on (Fords have to take the ENTIRE CAB OFF to work on the all to common problems motors!!)
Made by Americans who seem to still care about what they do. My 2006 engine is still looking new (no oil or fuel leaks whatsoever in my engine compartment and its not because I'm a neat freak either!. My FIL's brand new Duracrap has been in for repeated fuel leaks in engine compartment, rear main seal leaks (total engine and trans R@R to fix!) and its a 2008 with less 20k on it
This engine is hands down superior in every measure there should be no question...
