cp3 removal??

Can anyone please tell me how hard it is to pull the cp3 off, it doesn't look to be too difficult but I want to make sure before I start. Also when installing a new one do you have to do any priming or anything like that. Thanks, Mike

Cp3 did a job on me now I want a labotamy

It's not bad. I will send you my email with a private message and will send you some instructions.

disconnected negative bat terminals

Breaking the pully bolt off took the help of a friend to hold the crank pully otherwise the whole motor turns.

took the brather pipe to intake manifold pipe off. umbolted the throttle assembly

unpluged FCA

removed fuel line (banjo bolts)

removed round cover from infront of CP3 pully using 3/8" ratchet (fits into cover)

used small steering wheel puller to remove CP3 gear pully
I used two of the bolts that held the intake pipe to the intake manifold
or were they the bolts that held the throtle controll asembly - can't
remenber - with the puller
you run those bolts through the puller and screw them into the two
aposing threaded holes on the pully - (main center retaining nut and washer musst first be removed )

Be carfull with nut and washer, if you drop them into your timing belt cover you are screwed big time. I was so paranoid I took a coathanger wire and had friend hod wire firmly into hallow or divited end of pully shaft while removing washer so if I droped it the wire would catch it.

remove four bolts for CP3 - got one from under the truck - used 3/8 and 1/4 drives and open and box wrenches for this

bumped and wiggled cp3 back o-ring is little tight be patient

you can do it in 3hr with 30min help from a friend

good luck

Kinghomes,

I've never changed one, but I heard that cleanliness is very important.
Is this true?

Pete
