CP3 plumbing
CP3 plumbing
Can someone give me a tutorial on CP3 plumbing?
I was looking at the location for a banjo bolt to tap a FPG and found a lot more plumbing than I expected.
There's a line from the LP to the CP3, that I get. I assume that's the bolt I'd replace to tap an FPG. There's another line leaving the CP3 - that returns unused fuel to the tank? There's also another line from the high pressure rail on top of the engine going back to the the LP? That confused me.
Anything to know to install a banjo bolt? Just back it out I'd guess and pull it out of the fuel line connection. Does it use crush washers I should replace? How do I get the new bolt torqued right, is there a spec or do I snug it and look for leaks... I hate plumbing things - for some reason I make things leak.

there are three lines on the cp3. One inlet coming from the bottom of the fuel filter. One outlet that returns to the side of the filter(return line) and one outlet going to the fuel rail. Just back the banjo fitting out and install the new tapped banjo fitting. You might want to replace the sealing washers while you are there. Be careful with the torquing. You do not want to snap it off. Oh yeah, and be sure to be careful and clean!
there is the supply line, thats the upper line on the cp3 and the one you use for the fp guage, below that is your return line,on the backside of the cp3 is the high press. line to the rail, the other line that I think your talking about is the return line for the relief valve.when installing the guage just snug the tapped banjo bolt because they snap off easy.it would be a good idea to get new gaskets for the banjo bolt also,I have used mine over several times and never had a leak but while it's apart use new ones.

Now that I know there's a relief valve I can trace it all and understand the plumbing. THANKS!
I have not quite convinced myself (or the boss of the checkbook) that I need to spend $70 on an isolator for the FPG... but I'm getting close to ordering some parts for this. Glad I understand how it goes together now.
