I will watch this thread as I am not sure there is anyway to convert a 3/4 to 1 ton?
What is on the door when factory ships the vehicle is what you get to the best of my knowledge.

I could be wrong but I think its just the rear spring pack. All the running gear is the same. The 3500 has an extra overload leaf spring, and possibly larger brakes in the rear. Someone with more knowledge than I will come along soon.

3500 Has an extra overload spring is the only difference I believe.

Unless you count the DRW vs SRW, I also understand the only difference is the overload springs.

Not that I can answer, but I assume DRW vs SRW involves an axle change?

this came up a while back.I think it all ended up if the studs where long enough then you were good to go. put on a set of duallys and some springs and you could ride. the problem is in the front. if you want dish wheels in the front you need to buy an adapter kit for the front. OR just take the parts you need from a truck at the junk yard.

You are correct...............plus the extra wheels and tires, and fender flairs on a dually. Used to be that a 1-ton was a totally different truck, but not so anymore. (Oh, and the 3500 badging!)

I was told once that the rear end in a 3500 drw is shorter so the wheels dont stick out as much.

I dont think you could make the axle narrower, the tires would rub on the inside of the bed.

Honestly, if you went with aftermarket leaf springs and such it could turn out much better than a stock 3500!

Pretty interesting idea to me.

I just did a local search and found a brand new 2005 dually box for $3100. Came off a box change over. So if my box is in mint condition it has to be worth half that in a trade, buy the overload springs and longer U-bolts, and then trade in wheels and tires. So all told you could probably do the change over for 4-5grand plus time.

Check arrowcraft.com. They have all the adapters; everything you need for the conversion.

Not quite everything (from what I saw). Don't have the overload spring - just wheels, spacers, and fenders.
