is this common
ok seems really weird to me so i fig id ask.
friend has an 06 ato witha smarty jr that he runs on 40 hp, also has a snow water meth kit. those are his only power adders. as foir the trans he has a suncoast tc and a bd vb. other night he was running empty and merging on highway and heard a big bang and could move got it towed and now his mechanic that did trans work pulled it apart and said intermediate shaft broke. acted like it was common.
now my point is i have read almost every tranny thread i can get my hands on and everyone says tc vb flex plat and input and your good to go for drag racing sledpuling and all that for most part with added power. he hauls hay and thats it but not everyday and only like 5 or 6 of those big swuare bales never pulled or drag raced. this just doesnt seem like it should have happened at all ..

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
Not sure where you read just doing the tc vb and flex plate and your ready for sled pulling. Not with these trannies at least.
All I can say is usually the input or output shaft let go first. But I have seen the intermediate go first also. kind of a luck of the draw.

Not often I've heard of an intermediate shaft going. Might have just been weak. Are you sure it was an intermediate? Post up a pic if you can get one.

he said thats what the guy at teh diesel shop told him it was when they opened it up. seems weird to me considering he was empty and not tuned up much. i doubt i can get pics as the mechanic is just fixing it for him .
