There are lots of members here who have that code, including me. It seems to have some relationship to plugging the truck in for cold weather. Perhaps it is causing some differences in the two batteries temperatures? I don't know.

I have heard several members here say that DC has no fix for it. It doesn't seem to effect the truck though. If you ignore it, it will eventually go away on it's own. Mine did. Then it came back, probably since I "plugged" in.

I wouldn't worry about it if you are not having any other codes or problems with the truck.

I am working on this one right now. My 5 day old truck has thrown it twice. Basically the bat temp sensor dosn't really tell the temp of the battery. as far as I can tell. Its real purpose is to be a check for the intake air temp sensor. So what happens is when you turn the key, the computer compares the IATS with the BTS, if they don't agree, then it throws a code. I don't know by how much they have to disagree, but it is super frustrating to have my brand new truck crying wolf.

Ive had this code on and off for about a year now. DC tells me there are five sensors on these trucks it reads allfive on startup and if theres to much of a difference (I think 5*) between any of them it will throw that ones code. They have tried blaming it on many different things but I've thrown plugged- not plugged-cold- warm doesnt seem to matter.

I had this code several times last winter, I was plugging in the block heater like some were. This winter I have not plugged it in and have not seen the code yet

I know it dosn't hurt anything. But I hate having a light that could still be anything else. What a bummer!

Mine doesn't show an engine warning light. I wouldn't even know the code was there if I hadn't checked for it with the on, off, on, off, on thingy with the key.

Maybe the 06's also show an engine warning light or dash light too?

There is another thread dissusing the same issue. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ighlight=p0514. I had the same one with the CEL on. I took it in and they did a flash. There is a TSB for the "06's". It seems to be fine now.

Kind of interesting I have had the truck for almost 3 years and have never seen it. But now its there and was just wondering about it. Does this supposed flash going to fix the 305 motors to or is it just the 06's. Thanks for the help guys!

The flash for my "06" was TSB 18-05-06 I'm sure it is a different TSB for the 305.

I have a 305 for three years also. Last year it tossed this code. Solution pull the drivers side battery out. Bottom of the tray will be coated with crap from road spray. Under tray the sensor twist out and is held in contact with the bottom of the battery (don't loose it) by a wavy washer. Clean tray, sensor and battery. Apply dielectric silicone grease to electrical connector and battery posts. After 40 keyed starts my 0514 code disappeared and never came back.
