CLUNK when turning?
CLUNK when turning?
I am getting a clunking sound from underneath the truck when I am turning. The u joints look good, except I do have a little/slight wobble in the joint that is coming off of the transmission underneath the rubber boot that attaches to the drive shaft...could that be the issue? Thanks
I had an occasional clunk when turning, or backing up and stopping. It wasn't repetitive with tire or engine RPM. It would happen going slow (or I could hear it going slow), but not every time when turning. Sometimes, I would backup, stop and clunk. Then go forward, stop and clunk. Shocks needed to be replaced anyway, so did that. Checked control arms, ball joints, drag link, etc. and couldn't find it. A year later, I found it... a sway bar link. Replaced both and knock was gone.
i also had a clunking when turning but it was the u joint on the passenger side, one of the collars had cracked, didn't actually find it until the crack became a failure and the whole leg of the u joint gave out and all the needle bearings fell outta it.
