Chrysler Recall H46

FYI.

Just recieved a recall notice that may be Canada only but likely all Dodge trucks. Being a recall, there is no charge whether you are the original owner or not.

IF you had a steering linkage repair after March 1, 2008, on a 2003-2009 Dodge truck, they may have installed a faulty part (drag link inner joint may fracture under certain driving conditions. Also, the steering damper bracket may loosen causing increased turning radius).

Most of the original owner's will get a notice but anyone buying used wouldn't be notified and you may not know the truck's history of repairs.

Cya, and I hope no one has been hurt.

Yup, there have been multiple threads where this has been hammered to death. There is even a sticky thread so you don't even have to search.

Sorry folks, didn't mean to clutter up the board but I just got it and didn't notice anything obvious before I posted it.

They checked mine. Apparently some trucks had the steering stabilizer attached with u-bolts! Crazy design! Anyway... mine truck the stabilizer is through bolted in through the tie rod.... so no need to repair. Takes them just a few seconds to check for the problem.

Was that the issue?
They installed mine with U-Bolts, I thought it looked crazy but I only got the recall done because Carli recommended it prior to getting his stuff put on my truck. Needless to say, Carli didn't install my Bilstein stabilizer with U-Bolts.

Mine is one that has the u bolts attaching the steering stabilizer, and needs the recall. The dealer told me he would charge me $99 to take my aftermarket steerig brace off so he could preform the repairs (It's 4 bolts).
I took the truck home and will take it off myself, hell, they should take it off for free, as I put it on to support their crappy steering box design, and now that their second set of steering components is obviously a week design it all has to come back apart.
My thoughts were I didn't want their tech touching anything he wasn't trained take apart, I'd rather have the peace of mind that I put the steering box support on correctly.
