Cheveron Delo 400 user here also. I have used this oil exclusivley in all my tractors, combine, trucks and the wifes Grand Cherokee.

I made this switch, from using Royal Purple, based on a friction test I saw done 5-6 years ago. Didn't beat the RP but was the closest thing to it performance wise.

Good stuff.

I just used Delo for the first time. (In my boat) I was looking to use Rotella and found that they were all out, so the next best thing seemed to be the Delo 400. I have read about it time and time again here, so I figured it would be a good choice.

It's a coin toss, some use Rotella, others use Delo. Personal preference and what works the best as well as what is easier to come by.

Exxon is not the same company as Chevron. They are making billions also... just not as much.

I used Delo since new, but I do have concerns about the change over to CJ ratings. I am not sure what I will use next change if I can not find CI.

Even with CJ I will keep using Delo. Still has plenty of ZDDP and Moly.

Same with myself- I have about 10 oil changes worth of both the 15W40 and 5W40 Delo CI4+!

Even thought you may no longer be able to walk in to a store an buy CI-4 oil off the shelf, I would not worry about not finding it. There are still several company's who will keep making it for many more years, though you will have to order it by phone, on line or drive to the nearest John Deere dealer
