Chevron Delo 400 question
Chevron Delo 400 15-40 question
I've used this oil in my 93 dodge cummins for 7 years now with no problems. My concern is that I read that the newest formulations of Delo 400 15-40 have no ZDDP or "zinc and phosphorus" additive. Without this additive older flat tappet engines can get scuffing on cams and rocker arms. I just changed my oil tonight with Delo 400 thinking I was getting the ZDDP untill I looked the info up. Am I thinking wrong here? What oils are you guys using out there? Thanks. Jim.
Delo 400
I just checked with the mechanics at our school district and our entire school bus fleet mostly older 200,000 to 300,000 miles (cummins and cat engines) run on Delo 400 with no cam issues yet. So maybee there is a subsitute in it that replaces the adscense of zdds (zinc and phosphorus) sufficiently?

I bought some and plan to use it without worry. Read up on it some. If you are worried, just get some John Deere Plus 50 15-40 engine oil as they call it. It is very reasonable and is CI-4 Plus, not CJ. There are some good UOA's with it in CTD on Bobistheoilguy.com
