check engine light and code 0111

my check egine light is on and I got the code 0111. I was able to clear the code but my check engine light still is on. I did a search for this and it seems that the code is of no concern but how do I get my check engine light to turn off. I get no codes now. just the light. The truck is brand new and only has 2600 miles on it.

2500 diesel
'06
long bed
quad cab
2600 miles
all stock
48re automatic trans

thanks in advance
Jared

jared, if the code is gone, and the problem that set the code is gone, the light will clear itself after a few heat up/cool down cycles.
p0111 is crank/cam sensor misalignment.

It usually takes 4 start/run sequences for the Check Engine Light to go off if the reason for the initial code setting is no longer present.

Actually, P0111 is the DTC for Intake Air Temperature Sensor Rationality and will throw if a person installs some of the aftermarket cold air intakes, to include the K&N and AFEs. It is a "don't worry about it code" and once the computer figures out that nothing is really wrong, it will clear it itself. Or if you want to beat the ECM to the punch, go to AutoZone and ask them to clear it with their scanning tool.

p0111, dont know where i looked this morning, but obviously looked it up wrong. sorry bud. ignore the dumb air temp issue, that one and the battery temp sensor rationality are known stupid codes.

thanks, for all the responses. . . I don't know why it threw the code but it is gone now and the check engine light is now off as well. It must have gone through enough start up cycles and cleared itself.

thanks again for the help.

Funny coincidence I tripped the code last weekend with similar mileage on the truck. Kind of give me a start when the CEL comes on a brand new truck.
