check engine light on!
check engine light on!
When I started my truck this morning to go to work my engine light is now on. I checked for codes but not reading anything. The only thing I did different is I plugged in my block heater for the first time as the temps were in the low teens last night. This is on a 06 5.9. Could it be something with the block heater? Thanks!
Propably nothing to do with the heater. Do the key (on off on off on) to see the codes. I can do it sometimes. I just went to an autoparts store like Autozone and got a hand held reader. The code is probably 0071 ( Air temp rational) or the 0514 (Battery temp rational). It happens when I open the garage and start the truck when it has suddenly got cold overnight. The warm garage gets a sudden blast of cold just when starting the truck. It is amazing the sensors can pick up something like that. When there is a big temperature difference I wait a few minutes before starting after opening the door. It only happend to me once this fall, and hasn't done it since I started waiting to start. The code goes away after 6 of so starts, usually 2 days for me. A hand reader can clear the codes but I just make sure what the codes were and just let it go away on it's self.
