Check Engine Light On

Well 2821 miles on the new truck and got my first check engine light . I checked for codes by cycling the key 3x and P0111 came up. I checked to see what it is (Intake Air/Charge Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality). What the heck is this and should I take it in right away? I have been meaning to take it in anyway to get them to get rid of another code (P0514) that I've had for a couple of months. Anyway just wanting to know if I can drive it because I can't get it to the dealer right away?

I would think that it would have to do with the sensor on the air intake?? Not sure but I don't see a problem with driving it like that..Seems like a stupid code??? I had P083?? I think forever (map sensor) replaced it twice and kept getting it (this was on my 05) never hurt anything driving it like that..

Ya, I didn't think it was any serious but I just wanted to be sure and to see if anyone else has experienced this code before.

Look at TSB http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006/18-005-06b.htm and take it to the dealer at your convienience (drive, not tow). This <30 min fix will fix both codes.

Reading your Owner's Manual should tell you the difference between a solid check engine light (drivable) and a flashing check engine light (call for a tow).

Thundercloud, you can relax. I had both those codes show up on my truck in October, and there is a TSB with a computer flash that fixes them both. You will do no harm to your truck running with them, and they took about 15 minutes at the dealer to clear. Your truck is still sweet, and it's an easy fix!
