Changing fluids=mess
Changing fluids=mess
I changed the oil and fuel filters on my wife's '03 and it was a total mess. It was almost like the engine was pressurized cause when I loosened the oil filter, oil came out and spilled over the sides of the filter. Same with the fuel filter. Definately not like my '01 which doesn't do this. You spin the filters loose and the fluids stay inside and don't make a mess. What gives?
On edit: The fuel filter that Oriellys gave me was too small and wouldn't "lock" into the filter cap (don't know what the part number is but it had an EX I believe and was a WIX). I wound up using an extra that I had laying around for my '01 which had the same part # minus the "EX". Recon it'll be OK?

I read it on here - loosen the filter slightly, then slip a ziplock freezer bag over the filter. I had a couple little dribbles from not sealing the bag good once the filter was off, but that was my fault.
I like ordering oil and fuel filters from Geno's. Reasonable prices and quick delivery. I order enough to last a few changes. Always good to keep spares around.

IMO, you are better off if you filter it even finer than 7 or 5.
I run the stock filter (7 or 10, not sure what it is) and then a 2 micron CAT filter behind it and before it goes to the CP3.
