Changeing G56 oil?

I am about to swap out all my fluids for synthetics. I will probably run redline in the diffs and might as well use it in the tranny and t case. My question is do I just get redline ATF for my tranny? It says to use an ATF+4 (I think) in the manual but I have NO experience with autos or the fluids they use. Is there more than one type of ATF? Also what about the t case, what kind of fluid does it take? How much fluid does the tranny and t case hold?
Most of this I can probably find in my manual so I guess all I realy need it what to put in my tranny and t case, as in what type/brand. I want the best.
Thanks
Will

Atf+4

The book calls for ATF+4. I do not know much about redline. I use Amsoil. I just replaced my G56 for the first time. I have 10,000 miles on the truck. I removed the check oil level plug to see how much over full it was from the factory. I came up with 1 pint. I drained the rest of it and had to tilt the truck to get the extra pint back in it. It is said on the oil change it is not necessary to over fill but I figure it cannot hurt since they sent it that way. It took 6 quarts plus the pint. I was surprised to see how much metal filings there was stuck to the magnet on the drain plug. Tip on putting the oil back into the tranny. I used a 3 foot piece of 3/8 tubing and a small funnel and was able to run the tubing up next to the top of the engine to pour the oil back into the tranny from under the hood. It did not take me long to figure that little tid bit out. I do not have 4 wheel drive so cannot comment on the transfer case. I hope I helped you a little bit anyway.

you know i talked to south bend the other day about a doubel disk for my rig and on the phone he said something about a tranny that had 70k of very hard miles on it and he said the bearings were bad....so he thought putting a thicker oil would be better...but he never said what kind ..we got off on the clutch thing...anyone know about this chime in here and clear this up?

So what is the difference between atf and atf+4? Can I use royal purple in my G56? If so, exactly what type? What type of amsoil did ya'll use?

I assume they have changed something since the '03, because you cannot put anythting other than MTF in mine, no ATF+ anything, unless I have been completely mis-informed, which is possible I guess, Larry?
