G56 and Tcase oil change.

I just changed the oil in my tranny and tcase. I used royal purple synchromax in both. It was extrememly easy. I welded a nut on a bolt instead of usin a 14m allen head cause I didnt have one that big.

Havent had a chance to drive it yet but I will update later.

I put in a little less than 6.5 quarts in the trans and about 2.5 in the tcase. But havin a levelin kit I may go back and jack up the rear to get a little more in. Does this sound right?

Also if it matters I got about 30K on my truck and the trans drain plug was covered in metal. Looked worse than it was cause the magnet makes it "puff" out but I am still glad I changed.

If anybody has any hard data on how much fluid it is supposed to hold please let me know. Also any experience with synchromax would be nice too.

Just drove about 15 miles home at 60mph. I cant feel a diff, wich I didnt expect cause I didnt see how these trannys can shift any better than they already do. This is the smoothest trans I have ever driven, at least in a 1 ton. After I got home I cralled under the truck and felt the trans (on the driver side away from exhaust) and the tcase.

Both where ever so slightly warm. Not hot at all, you could hold your hand on both all day, they where both somewhere between cool and warm.

So far so good.

Well, I hauled a 10 ton 25' gooseneck today about 60 miles at about 65mph. I picked up a JD 7405 that weighs about 12K and hauled it back the same way with some pretty good hills along the way. Once home I got under the truck again and the tcase and trans where both hot. I could touch em but only for a second, I couldnt hold my hand on em.
