carrier bearing keeps going out

Has anyone else had problems with the carrier bearing going out? I have an 04 2500 4x4 club cab with the 6 spd and this will be the second time in the last year replacing it and u-joints. Does anyone have an idea what else could be wearing it down so fast?

My bosses 04 was doing the same thing and he took it to dodge and had them send the driveshaft off and get balanced and it has seemed to fix the problem.

Check driveline angles.
If it is a long wheel base I would add at least between 1/4" and a 1/2" spacer.
Also, replace U joints with aftermarket greasable units.

I second the carrier bearing spacer idea. My 01 had a real problem after I got the trans rebuilt. I called the trans vendor about it and he said yeah we see that sometimes with the longbeds and said add a spacer. I did and my problem went away. Took me about 1/2 an hour to fix it and no problems in 50k.

Spacers are easily made. I sourced about a 2" wide piece of mild steel from lowes for about $10 cut it to the length of the carrier housing and then drilled 2 holes in it.
